他乡的童年

教育，是中国各个阶层共同焦虑的话题，无数家庭穷尽所有把孩子送去国外，都是希望自己的孩子得到更好的教育。身为两个孩子的母亲，常年报道国际新闻的记者周轶君感受到同样的焦虑。轶君走访芬兰、日本、印度、以色列及英国等五个国家，最后回到中国，踏上一趟关于教育哲学的思考之旅。没有竞争的芬兰教育，怎样告诉孩子什么是成功或失败？贫富差距极大的印度，怎样用网络教育弥合孩子之间的差距？集体意识浓厚的日本怎样让孩子理解个人和团队的平衡？影片从小孩的角度去体验课堂，从家长的角度去感受不同的教育方式，也从不同社会的文化、历史出发，去对教育作一个深刻思考。探寻的旅途上，轶君同时回忆起自己的童年，也经历了一次重新审视自身的旅程。

The key of education is to tell kids how to survive, how to live and learn to enjoy. It is perhaps about everything but to be "successful". Connection, self-expression, health, liberty, equality... all these common senses and values matter much more than math, science and other subjects, and which unfortunately, are what we miss throughout the whole education system.

Competition, in a way really impedes us to be a healthy and happy human—because where there is competition, there is standard, and the truth is there isn’t.

One of the values education can offer is to show how different the world is ,and by no means it should end up stopping people exploring how different they are.

We still have a LONG LONG way to go.
