杜夫·龙格尔1957年11月3日生于瑞典斯德哥尔摩。14岁习武，拥有空手道黑带二段资格，曾是瑞典高级空手道国家代表队长，曾荣获1980、1981年欧洲重量级空手道冠军。能文能武的他曾在求学期间，得到斯德哥尔摩皇家工技学院、华盛顿大学等三份奖学金，在澳大利亚还取得了硕士学位，又获奖学金入MIT进修。因对演戏着迷，1985年辍学投身演艺圈，在史泰龙的卖座大片《洛基4》中出演苏联拳击手，而一炮走红，之后又陆续主演多部B级动作片，近年的作品乏善可陈。
